A new Tesla is not cheap, even if you opt for the baseline option, but until now it was possible to relieve pressure on your wallet by opting for a black paint instead of the flashier silver or blue options. That is about to change, with the cost of a dark finish rising by $ 1,000 (around £ 800, AU $ 1,400).
The price increase is planned for the following month, so if you have tried a new purchase and want to turn to the dark side, you should move quickly.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the change on Twitter, but gave no reason for the more expensive paint.
Ups and downs
Musk quickly stopped making suggestions that the company could offer cars in different colors, and noted that adding new shades would make future maintenance difficult, leading to a "long tail of pain" .
The company has made a number of adjustments to its prices in recent months. In March, it lowered the price of an entry-level Model 3, and in April, Musk tweeted a tweet message that the price of cars equipped with Full Self Driving mode "would rise significantly over time".
It is also worth keeping in mind that, despite the name, Full Self Driving is not the same as full autonomy, and that you cannot get away with cruising along a busy highway at 65mph while you sleep, no matter how much you are paid for it.
