Social media is so strong in our world, both in a personal and professional sense. The days of searching for a photographer via Google are over. Many turn to the social media platform, Instagram. Instagram has become a powerful tool for both photographers and content creators. It is a commitment-oriented online portfolio, so to speak.

But with thousands of accounts that are currently active on Instagram, how do you distinguish yourself from the rest and still attract photography clients? By having a food that is more aesthetic than the rest!

Here is our guide for creating a uniform Instagram feed as a photographer.

What does a unified Instagram feed actually mean?

People are naturally attracted to cohesion, especially people with a certain sensitivity to aesthetics.

A uniform Instagram is one in which each image, viewed in its entirety, looks like a piece of a great puzzle. Each one seems to belong and in one way or another form or form unites with another around it.

It is the difference between a feed that looks messy and disconnected and a feed that looks like part of a strategically and effortlessly tailored brand.

Having unity in your work not only pushes your brand further, but can draw a lot of eyes on your product (the beautiful images!). It is not only a trend to have a bit more coherence, it has also been shown that it really helps in attracting new customers who are attracted to the style that you present.

An example of my varied feed – when you have many specialization areas, it can be difficult to maintain complete coherence.

This is not a proven method for all photography companies. For example, I am a versatile photographer and an overly coherent feed is simply not possible for me. My fellow industry buddies, however, have beautifully customized and structured feeds that work great for them! Their customers know exactly what to expect and hire them based on their appearance.

    The real secret?

What is the real secret? For the most part it always uses the same processing mechanism. Make a preset or a general direction for your editing and replicate it over your entire board. This already creates a look of coherence with minimal effort.

I suggest not using the preset filters from Instagram, because these can reduce the quality of your images. Instead, create your own presets or promotions in Lightroom or Photoshop. You can even automate this to play on the series of images you select to post.

If you notice that you are not actually preset edits, you unite your feed by topic or theme. This also offers you the opportunity to really strengthen your niche as a photographer and to attract the right demographics for your work. Find out what kind of photographer you are and who or what your most common subjects are, and place images that fit within that range.

It is also an excellent idea to create a uniform feed based on a color palette.

Colors are an important way to make everything look customized and express who you are as a maker.

Color theory is a complex subject that can be taught for hours, but the general idea is that certain shades and color combinations attract a specific response. Link marketing to Instagram and find a color palette that often attracts your customers (and potential customers).

Watch where your followers are going and enter that defect. It is great to split your feed with text that captivates your target audience and still lets everything look together.

Bonus tip: create a booking calendar for the month. View a preview of these images in a mockup of your Instagram feed and see how everything looks together. This gives a lot of insight into the final result!

If you create a unified feed and then want to change the theme, what then?

This feed from singer Jessica Abari shows unification in sets of 3 (with editing style and images from the same photo shoot), but also in general because Jessica herself is the theme.

I think a frightening aspect of this is all that sustainability is.

If you spend the time to make your images coherent with each other and then change your mind, is all your effort wasted?

Not at all! Changing your theme is fairly easy. You can choose to gradually switch to your new aesthetic or become bold and place three images directly in the new style in the new style and agree to that.

Remember that you do not lose yourself or who you are as a photographer if you strive for unity.

There is a nice line to walk between just soothing the masses and ensuring that your individual photography voice is heard. Where that balance is based entirely on your own opinion.

In addition, be careful with appearing too repetitive and monotonous – try posting pictures with different compositions or expressing something new. Being coherent does not mean being boring.

When you create a unified Instagram feed as a photographer, put your best imaging foot first!
