iTunes issue that causes many 4K titles from users to be downgraded to HD

In 2017, Apple TV 4K users welcomed that selected films in their iTunes libraries started receiving Ultra HD upgrades at no extra cost.

Now the opposite (though unintentional) seems to be the case, where both purchased and non-purchased 4K movies are downgraded to HD thanks to an alleged bug as reported by 9to5Mac.

One user has compiled a list of downloaded titles on Blu-ray.com ' s forums, including the following:

  • About last night
  • Aloha (2015)
  • American sniper
  • Annie (2014)

  • X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Fortunately, it appears that Apple is already correcting the situation, with some users reporting on Twitter that different titles have returned to their full 4K Ultra HD resolution, although not for everyone.

If you have noticed that your 4K purchases have suddenly been brought back to HD, your best chance is to postpone it because it looks like the problem is only temporary.
