A new leak claims it Moto Z4 will package a midrange Snapdragon 675 chip, as expected in the Moto Z4 Play, according to GSM Arena.
That would refute a rumor last November the Moto Z4 – or the ' Motorola Odin & # 39 ;, a code name that may or may not refer to the next flagship Moto device – bobbed a Snapdragon 8150 (now known as the snapdragon 855), the top chip that debuted in the Samsung Galaxy S10.
Now it is possible that the leak refers to the Moto Z4 Play, especially since a previous GSM Arena report noted that it would come with the lower-performing Snapdragon 675 – which fits in with the typically lower-priced, cheaper role of the Play version. The only downside in that theory? The new leak is about a phone with a 6.4-inch screen and it was previously reported that the Moto Z4 Play has a 6.22-inch screen.
Difficult implications for 5G
This would be a bit strange for the value of the Moto Z line. The previous Moto Z3 might not have been an incredibly impressive device, but the dated yet powerful flagship magnet from Snapdragon 835 made the phone a bargain price at a mid-range price. If the Moto Z4 comes with a mid-range processor, it does not have the correct value.
More importantly, we do not know whether the Snapdragon 675 has the performance to handle 5G. The Moto Z3 has kept its relevance by exercising with the Moto Mod 5G which allows it to connect to the (still very limited, we found) 5G network from Verizon and probably there is extra computing power in the mod to the combined telephone package get the advanced network up to speed.
The question is – can a Snapdragon 675 stick with the Snapdragon 835 in the Moto Z3 in a network test? Even Qualcomm's own numbers show the LTE peak download speeds (600 Mbps) of the previous one that are lower than those of the last (1 Gbps).
The leak also noted that both the Moto Z4 and the Moto Z4 Play will pack 48 MP cameras in the rear, the first to come with a 25 MP selfie camera (no word on the front camera of the Moto) Z4 Play). That would be a big step forward from the 12MP dual rear shooters on the Moto Z3.
