It can be almost seven years old, but there is still life in Borderlands 2 so far. A new leak suggests that the game gets a new, free DLC package that acts as a narrative link to the upcoming Borderlands 3.
Spotted on (and since removed from) Steam by Resetera, the DLC is expected to be called Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary. It offers new areas to explore, new bosses to fight and new weapons to plunder.

A backup of a previous rumor, here & apos; s what the now-drawn description is as:
"Return to the award-winning shooter-plunderer for a new adventure that opens the way for the upcoming one Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault card has been stolen and Pandora has been poisoned by a poisonous gas.
"Fight against new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including a whole new layer beyond Legendary) and join Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to face a crazy villain across the planet.
"Returning players can aim for a raised level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically go to level 30 and dive directly to the promotion."
A space sanctuary
From our hands-on time with Borderlands 3 so far, we already know that Sanctuary refers to both the hub city of Borderlands 2 and the upcoming third game & apos; player base, the Sanctuary spaceship 3. So the DLC could possibly imagine how the jump in the interplanetary sphere takes place.
Borderlands 3 is scheduled for launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 13, and the DLC is expected to be announced at next week's E3 2019 conference.
There is still no word about whether the add-on will also come for the console versions of the game, but given that Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (including Borderlands 2 and all its DLC) is currently being offered for free as a PlayStation Plus subscription name , we say that this is a good indication that this will be the case.
