Yoke – Makes it easier to be kind or to mind

One of the most strangely uncomfortable social problems in our modern world is the desire to be more social, without being too creepy or otherwise abandoning privacy.

You want to meet up with a friend, but you only want to do this if they are already close, so you don't have to go too far. But other than constantly bothering them with text messages, what should you do?

But other than constantly bothering them with text messages, what should you do?

With Yoke you can easily find out where people are after they first reach you, so you can not only see their location on a handy map provided, but also actively share your location with your friends and see it so much easier where everyone is.

You can receive alerts to let you know exactly when someone you know is in the area, including vice versa. With regard to privacy, Yoke ensures that you only provide general locations, rather than specific addresses or exact details, to ensure that you do not remove all traces of privacy.

By far the best feature is the ability to actively turn off certain friends from receiving notifications about your location, perfect for that gentle disappearance from a friendship, or if you really just don't want to deal with that one particular friend; or, if you are friendlier and more optimistic, if you are secretly planning their surprise party.

Once you've found your friend, you can use the built-in messenger to connect and send the exact location and make sure you know where to meet and hang out.

You can also create individual social circles with different groups of people, so that you can give different people different sides with a crossover, so that you can show your location and activities to a group of friends, but not to the other.

The whole purpose of Yoke is to facilitate the organization of meetings, but it is also about making sure that you are not dealing with certain people or that your privacy is completely disrupted.

Although it may seem antisocial, Yoke is a fantastic tool, whether you feel primarily social or when you want to be left alone.

The ascetic is clean and concise and offers all the useful information needed to see what you are doing.

While it certainly needs a much larger audience, and it also depends on your friends agreeing to use it before it can really be of any use, Yoke is a social app with an enormous amount of potential. Whether you want to meet friends or avoid them completely, Yoke is the perfect way to manage your social gatherings.

Our assessment

Pros Cons
Simple, clean ascetic that meets what it needs. Not only useful to meet friends, it is also useful to avoid them. The app is inherently dependent on other people using it, so it will be very quiet in the beginning.
